Jimmie "Dale" Smith, 80, of the Vinity Community, Arkansas passed away suddenly on May 3rd, 2022 in his home. He was born September 21st, 1941 to the late Biniom and Lois (Hicks) Smith.
Dale was a professional coffee drinker, McDonald's fanatic, and an avid outdoorsman. After graduating from Beebe High School in 1960, he served in the Army Reserves and later married the love of his life, Carroll (Sanford) Smith, on June 18th 1965. Together they raised three beautiful children who blessed them with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dale loved to farm. He tended row crops on his land for 42 years. The Smith Family was awarded Farm Family of the Year in 1977. Dale worked for Pioneer Seed Company for nine years and Armor Seed for five.
He was a devoted Christian and wore many hats in service to his faith. Dale served as song leader at McRae Church of Christ and Beebe Church of Christ. He served as a Deacon and song leader at Northside Church of Christ. His favorite song to lead on Sundays was "Heavenly Sunlight".
Dale was a pillar of the community. He served on various boards throughout his life, notably as a member of the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, NRCS Soil Conservation Board, and the White County Junior Livestock Marketing Committee where he acted as Auctioneer for the White County Fair Premium Sale for almost 30 years. He also served as a Justice of the Peace. During community events, he could often be found manning the fish fryer and sharing stories with strangers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 8 siblings: Mable Barnett, Shirley Smith, Allene Pennington, Winford Smith, Melva Summers, Nelda Myrick, Weldon Smith, Dorothy Jones. Dale is survived by his wife, Carroll Smith, three children son Koby (Denise) Smith, of Beebe, daughter Leah (Lyn) Cotter of Henderson, Arkansas, son Jason (Stephanie) Smith of Beebe,
Arkansas, grandchildren, Hannah (Cody) Walker of Henderson, Arkansas, Sydney (Joey) Sims of Beebe, Arkansas, Bodie Cotter of Henderson, Arkansas, Riley, Austin, Lane and Dalen Smith all of Beebe, Arkansas. Great-Grandchildren, Claire and Charlie Walker of Henderson, Arkansas. He is survived by two siblings, J.C. Smith of McRae and Juanez Brister of Bryant; sister-in-law, Cloie (Charles) Ross of Garner, Phyllis Smith of McRae and Pearl Smith of Texas; brother-in-law Ray Pennington of Sylvan Hills; and multiple nieces and nephews, family and multitude of friends.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Northside Church of Christ. Funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Northside Church of Christ, with burial in Cheek Cemetery. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home.
