Lawrence J. Graham

Muncie – Local artist and art professor, Lawrence J Graham, passed away peacefully at IU Ball Memorial Hospital on April 29, 2022, at the age of 93.

He spent his early life in Pittsburg and then attended high school in Detroit. He enlisted in The United States Army and served in Japan and Korea. He earned degrees from Michigan State Normal University (now Eastern Michigan), Cranbrook Institute of Art and Ball State University.

Mr. Graham devoted his professional career to teaching art and photography, retiring from Ball State as a professor of art. His passion was creativity which he instilled in his students.

He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly sixty years, Beverly and survived by three children, Greg (wife Lorraine), Bruce (wife Kathy) and Mary Beuoy (husband Jerry); twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Larry leaves behind a life's work of watercolors, oil paintings, ink drawings and photographs that brighten the earth and reminds us of our humanity inspiring us to create.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Red Tail Conservancy, NPR or Second Harvest Food Bank.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel. 7901 West Isanogel Road, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
