Obituary
Beverly Wiles, 72, of Plainfield, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's dementia.

Beverly was born on February 14, 1950, to Alvin and Loretta (nee Gall) Bever in Peoria, IL. Beverly was born in the middle of a blizzard that year and according to her mother Loretta, they barely made it in time to the hospital.

One of Beverly's secret pet peeves was having to celebrate her birthday with Valentine's Day. She hated those two in one-Valentine's Birthday cards. Her husband Dick Wiles only made that mistake once-every year after that he would buy her a dozen red roses and two cards-one for her birthday and one for Valentine's Day.
After graduating from Joliet East Township High School in 1968, she went on to spend the next twenty-five years employed at the Arsenal in Elwood, IL, Chicago St-Louis Transport, and then Al's Steak House as their bookkeeper. In 1992, Beverly enrolled in nursing school at Joliet Junior College, and graduated alongside her daughter Theresa Wiles with her nursing degree in 1996. Beverly spent the next decade as the school nurse for United Cerebral Palsy, retiring in 2006 after the passing of her husband Dick Wiles in 2005. Beverly retired to sunny Las Cruces, New Mexico where she enjoyed the desert, mountains, and sunshine.

In 1967, she met Dick Wiles. Beverly's brother Bill Bever brought Dick home one day after work. Beverly caught Dick's eye that day, and they wed in 1969, going on to have one daughter Theresa Wiles. Dick and Bev were together almost 38 years before Dick's untimely passing in August 2005. They spent their free time on the Harley riding around the back roads of beautiful Illinois. Throughout the years they spent time with their friends camping, canoeing, or holding epic outdoor pig roasts in the backyard. Their mutual dream of building a log home was achieved in 1992 when they moved into the log home built on three acres out in Morris, Il.

Bev was a passionate quilter, and when she wasn't filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her sewing room creating her beautiful masterpieces. She also had a passion for gardening and every fall would make batches of her famous homemade salsa.

Bev was predeceased by her parents Alvin James Bever and Loretta Ann (Gall) Bever, her husband Richard John "Dick" Wiles, numerous loved aunts, and uncles, especially her Uncle Robert "Bobby" Gall and Aunt Beva Gall from Seattle, Washington and her Aunt Marian Rose Gall from Streator, Illinois. She is survived by her daughter Theresa Anne Wiles, of Plainfield, IL, her brother William (Alicia) Bever of Channahon, IL, sister Mary Ann (William) Ludtke of Las Cruces, NM, nieces Michele Ann (Steve) Armstrong, of Seligman, AZ, Carissa Anne (Kelly) Tucker of Reddick, IL, and nephews Joshua Ludtke of California and Aaron Bever of Channahon, IL. She was also fond of Robert Townsend and his daughter Hannah Townsend, over the years Robert was the son she never had, and she adored him.

Her last years were spent loving on her Grandpup Winston Churchill Wiles-a precocious Miniature Schnauzer who loved his grandmom.

A special thank you to all the wonderful and loving staff of Harbor Chase in Plainfield who have helped make my mom's transition one of love and peace, Suncrest Hospice and Harvest at Home for making her last days comfortable. My mom knew she was loved, and even though she was robbed of her memories, she was never robbed of love.

In lieu of flowers, donations to United Cerebral Palsy - Center for Disability Services, 311 S Reed St, Joliet, IL 60436, would be appreciated.

Visitation, Friday, May 6, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Overman Jones Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 15219 Joliet Rd, Plainfield, IL 60544. A Catholic funeral service will be held on Saturday May 7, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Plainfield Township Cemetery.
