Joseph Wagner Sr., was born on Nov. 10, 1944, to Herbert Wagner Sr. and Altee Moore in Farm Wood, Mississippi.

Joe accepted Christ at an early age. He became a member of Mount Zion M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Stanley Mason, and he served as an Usher. Joe later Joined Deliverance & Victory under the leadership of Apostles Darrell and Vera Roberts, and remained a faithful member there. He graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Louisiana. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, bid whist, watching sports, corn whole (better known as "bags") and traveling. One of his famous questions that he was known for was, "What is the deal?" That became one of Johnson Road's funniest quotes. Joe was a very hard worker and a wonderful provider, he worked for NIPSCO for 30 years and retired in 2004.

Joe married the love of his life, Dorothy George, on Sept. 20, 1986. They were married for 35 years. From this union one child was born, LaTisha Wagner.

On March 28, 2022, Joseph was promoted to Glory and welcomed home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There to welcome him home were his parents, Herbert and Altee Wagner; his daughter, Vonda Kay Williams; his son, Jimmie Grant Jr.; his brothers, Henry Wagner and Dewitt Moore; and his sister, Gloria Burton.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 123 Helen St., Michigan City, Indiana, with his wife, Pastor Dorothy Wagner, to give Eulogy. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial to follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, 1367 Pine Lake Ave., La Porte, Indiana, 46350.

He leaves to cherish his unforgettable memories his loving wife, whom he adored, Pastor Dorothy Wagner of Michigan City, Indiana; six children, Apostle Vera (Darrell) Roberts of Michigan City, Indiana, Joseph (Deon) Wagner of Plymouth, Michigan, Derrick (Rachel) Grant of Seattle, Washington, Johnnie Grant of Michigan City, Indiana, Johnnetta Grant of St. Louis, Missouri, and Latisha Erdahl of Michigan City, Indiana; special friends, Harland Stewart, Charles Williams and Daryl Crocket; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Joseph's presence, smile, love and laughter will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
