Joyce Ann Lemons King born November 5, 1951 to the union of Late Sadie Bell Reese and Wadell Lemons Sr.

Joyce loved her family, cooking, playing bingo, decorating, and her plants. She was a loving mother to her sisters and brother, her grandchildren, great grand-children and also her own 3 children. She was a jack of all trade, she could cook, clean, decorate, lay tile, do dry wall, paint, and dress. She loved attending church, her church home was New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and her former Pastor was Pastor Eddie L. Jenkins. She sacrificed her own education to help mother, her brothers and sisters. Every holiday you could go to Joyce's house to get a plate because she loved cooking. She would light up the entire block with her holiday decorations. She was the neighborhood grandmother, she always treated everyone that came in contact with her as her own. She was Santa Clause to her grandchildren making every Christmas something to remember. She was a beautiful, hardworking, loving woman that will truly be missed. There is not enough words to describe just how much of a blessing she was to everyone. She was married but separated to Frank King.

She departed this life on April 13, 2022 at St. Franciscan Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Mary Ann Bryd, two sisters: Onetha and Doretha Lemons, three brothers: Joe Lemons, Wadell Lemons Jr., and James Lemons, and one great-granddaughter: Danila Marie Grant.

Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, at 11am at Coleman and Hicks Chapel 101 Karwick Rd. Michigan City, Indiana 46360. Viewing will be 10am until time of service.
