Richard Calvin Wilson, Sr., 78, of Appomattox, passed away on April 30, 2022, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Alice Louise Johnson Wilson.
Born in Orange County, on March 16, 1944, he was the son of the late Mack Henry Wilson and Sarah Elizabeth Paris Wilson. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He worked for the Appomattox Oil Company for 20 years and worked in the radio business. Richard was also a carpenter and a preacher of the Gospel.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Kenneth Wilson and wife, Madchen, and Gary Wilson and wife, Amy; two brothers, Lonnie Wilson and wife, Pauline, and David Wilson, Sr. and wife, Phyllis; four sisters, Martha "Kitty" Tolley, Betty Maxine Stuart, Edith "Honey" Wright and husband, Donald, and Sandra Swift; and six grandchildren, Abby, Mackenzie, Ashley, Patrick, Kate, and Rhys.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Calvin "R.C." Wilson, Jr.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Worley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, May 6, 2022, at Robinson Funeral Home.
