He was the son of Robert Glines and Anna Smith
He was buried on the Glines Farm in Colusa, Hancock County, Illinois, United States
he married Maria Matthews. They had several children and had moved from New Hampshire to Canada and back. They ended up in Nauvoo Illinois, following the Mormons. They are both buried on their Family Farm in Colusa, Nauvoo Illinois.
He was a fur trader in Canada and traded with and knew John Astor, the millionaire who drowned on the Titanic.
