Warren Roy Ward was born on December 13, 1934, in York, Maine, to Fred Grant and Thelma Beatrice (Berry) Ward, Sr. He attended Portsmouth, New Hampshire schools and graduated from Portsmouth High School with the class of 1952. He attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated from the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in Boston, Massachusetts.

Warren was a resident of Portsmouth for more than 60 years. He worked for the family business with his uncle George Bradford Ward at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home in Portsmouth for many years before enlisting in the New Hampshire Army and Air National Guard where he served as an aircraft scheduler and retired with the rank of master sergeant after 30 years of service in 1992. After his retirement, he returned to the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home where he assisted with funeral services and enjoyed greeting and talking with families.

Warren married Constance "Connie" Natalie Rockwell in Portsmouth on December 31, 1956 and they had four children: Mark W., Anita S., David M. and Peter V. Ward.

Warren was a 50 year member of St. Andrew's Lodge, No. 56 and St. John's Lodge, No. 1 F&AM of Portsmouth; trustee of the James E. Whalley Museum and Library; president of the Parents Music Club and treasurer of the Portsmouth Band Boosters. He was also a member of the Stratham 76ers.

Warren enjoyed being a "snowbird" and traveled every winter for over 20 years to Barefoot Bay, Florida, where he enjoyed playing tennis and keeping score for the Senior Softball League.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Constance "Connie" (Rockwell) Ward; their son, Mark Warren Ward; and his brother, Fred Grant Ward, Jr.

Warren passed away peacefully at his home in Stratham, New Hampshire, surrounded by his loving family on April 10, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer; he was 87 years old.

He was survived by his children: Anita W. French and her husband, Donald of Stratham; David M. Ward and his wife Renee of Dover, New Hampshire; and Peter V. Ward of Portsmouth; six grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Frances (Ward) Peatfield of Danbury, Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.
