Colonel (Ret.) Hollis Lloyd Roberts, 86, peacefully passed away, Thursday, April 28, 2022 at his home in Elizabethtown, Ky. He was born November 17, 1935 in Henry County, Ky.

Hollis was a graduate of Pleasureville High School, class of 1953. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University in 1957, where upon graduation he was commissioned into the United States Army. He obtained a masters degree from the University of Alaska in 1973. He was a graduate of the Signal Officers Career Course, the Armed Forces Staff College and the Air War College. He served on active duty for more than 30 years, which included two tours in Vietnam. He retired as a highly decorated Army Signal Corp. Colonel receiving several awards including the Bronze Star with two leaf clusters. After retiring from the military, he and his wife settled in Elizabethtown, Kentucky in 1988. He enjoyed returning to his Kentucky roots, near family and friends. His hobbies included golfing, reading and working in his yard. He enjoyed politics and was an avid sports fan, following his beloved Kentucky Wildcats and the Cincinnati Reds.

Hollis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Billie Sue Click Roberts.

He was a devoted father of his daughters, Rhonda (Lance) Acree, Leslie (Robert) Seay and Randi (Michael) Dames; a loving grandfather to Rachel Acree, Zachary (Jennifer) Acree, Lloyd Acree, Hannah (Jodie) Stafford, Benjamin Seay, Haley (Derick) Osmak, Bridget Dames, Peter Dames, Patrick Dames; and a great-grandfather to Caroline Jane Stafford. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Eloise Mulligan and Marcella (Dennis) Ashcraft.

The funeral is at 11:30 am Thursday, May 12th at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A graveside service will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday and continues after 9:30 am Thursday at the funeral home.
