Edna J. (Wilson) Clay, 91, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Nickie Clay of Beckley, following a long illness.
Born on April 22, 1915, in Morehead, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Alvin Lee and Mary Stidham Wilson.
Mrs. Clay was a homemaker and a loving mother. She attended Herndon High School and was a charter member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in Maben. she was a descendant of the Wilson family that founded Morehead State College in Morehead, Ky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vern W. Clay; two sons, Thomas Lee Haynes and Terry Clay; three sisters, Cora edmonds; Opal Mills and Maxine Bower; and three brothers, Estil Wilson; Lacy Wilson; and Alvin Wilson.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Wanda C. Clay and her husband, Charles, of Hernando, Fla.; four sons, Vern W. Clay Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Labanon, Tenn.; William Robert Clay and his wife, Carol, of Fort Myers, Fla.; Kenneth D. Clay and his wife, Nickie, of Beckley; Dallas L. Clay and his wife, Nina, of Beckley; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Akers of Greenville, S.C.; and a special care giver, Nancy Pachuta of Beckley. She is also suvived by special friends Regina na Bo Sizemore of Saulsville.
Service will be 2:p.m. Thursday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens, with the Rev. Larry England and the rev. Vernon Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
