Thomas Edward Daugherty

It is with great sadness we announce Thomas Edward Daugherty, 91 passed away Thursday, April 21, in Denton, TX. Thomas went to join his sons and be with his Lord and Savior after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Even though he was taken from this world, he leaves his loving spirit with all who knew him.

Thomas was born on June 23, 1930 in Denton, TX to Jacob Edward Daugherty and Mary Ersula Pogue. As a young man he enjoyed building hot rods and drag racing. One of his favorite tales was how he raced from Dallas to Denton with the cops chasing him - only to be let off with a warning because of his impressive getaway skills and charming personality.

In 1957 he married the love of his life, Carolyn Crubaugh after falling completely head over heels for her. They lived inseparable for 65 years and welcomed two children, two grand children and a great granddaughter together into their wonderful lives.

Thomas dedicated his life to the Lord and was a member and Deacon of Gateway United Baptist Church. He served his country as an Air Force Veteran and was also a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas Master Masons for 60 years. He proudly retired from Ford Motor Company. Thomas loved playing dominos with his friends from church, camping, watching old westerns, and spending time with his family.

As Alzheimer's stole his memories, his personality and charm always remained intact. He would tell his stories to anyone who would listen and always tried to make you laugh. We are comforted knowing that Thomas now knows who Thomas is, once again.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Jean Daugherty; grandson, Kelly Edmund Daugherty of Denton; granddaughter, Brittany Gayle Dahn of Denton; and great-granddaughter, Mckenzie Marie Dahn. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and two sons Mark Edward Daughtery and Thomas Kevin Daugherty.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 26 at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust St., Denton. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 27 at Gateway United Baptist Church, 2401 North Bell Ave., Denton. Interment will follow at Little Elm Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gateway Baptist Church or alz.org.
