SULPHUR -- Services for Joe DeWayne Hilliard, 61, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Brad Ransom officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.

Hilliard was born May 14, 1938, at Sulphur, to Joe C. and Maxine West Hilliard. He died Feb. 9, 2000, in Oklahoma City.

A resident of this area most of his life, he married Mary Cowell Oct. 1, 1959, in Sulphur, and was a retired employee of the Oklahoma Highway Department. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Odd Fellows, Oklahoma Public Employees Association and Murray County Fair committee. He was preceded in death by a sister and grandson.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three daughters, Shiela Hilliard, Sulphur, Donna Parenti, Davis, and Christy Hilliard, Ada; a son, Joe D.; two sisters, Sue Pettitt, Sherry Howe; and two brothers, Don and Danny, all of Sulphur; and six grandchildren.

Bearers will be Wesley Hilliard, Todd Bates, Carl and Richard Mize, and Michael and Steven Martin. Honorary bearers are Gene Olsen, Ollie Smith and J.W. "Dub" West.
