GLADE SPRING, Va.

John Kennedy Carter, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at his home. He was born on December 20, 1931, to the late Kennedy and Cora Carter. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and after retiring from the military he later worked at the Virginia Department of Corrections. He loved to fish and spend time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Wright Carter; his sister, Janavee Carter Buchanan; special niece, Amy Michelle Carter; and sisters-in-law, Mary Emma Carter, and Sarah Wright. He is survived by his brother, James "Jim" Carter; his sister, Janice Perkins and husband, Glenn; brother-in-law, Don Wright; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He is also survived by special friends, Frederick Copenhaver, Ronnie Houchins, and Jim Litton.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Old Glade Presbyterian with Pastor Tim Bird officiating. There will also by military rites held by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery.
