He served his country in the United States Navy and also in the US Naval Reserves "Sea Bees" Division. He was just recently appointed Assistant Commander for the local V.F.W. in Peshtigo.
Willy's boxing career started in the U.S. Navy. His abilities led him to be the Defensive Boxing Coach for Team USA at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing China where he coached future world heavy weight champ Deontay Wilder.
Locally he was a coach and mentor to many in his boxing family.
Willy coached the first female Golden Gloves state champion in the State of Wisconsin, April Manowski.
He drove school bus for the Peshtigo School District for many years and had a strong relationship with all his riders. Willy's generosity and love of life was well-known. He was very close to his family, especially enjoying fishing, canoeing, hunting, and other outings with them. His favorite job was working on the Alaskan pipeline, north of the North Pole, as a welder. Willy was well-known for his colorful personality and storytelling. He enjoyed giving everyone a nickname.
Willy is survived by 2 daughters: Crystal (Jake) Hearley and Jennifer (Jeff) Smith;
his mother Irene Price;
6 grandchildren: Oliver and Isaac Hearley; Olivia, Annabelle, Aurora and Max Smith;
1 great granddaughter Melody;
2 sisters: Paula (Alan) Irving and Kristine Price;
and his significant other, Cara Petrowski.
Willy was especially close with many cousins including Gerry "Walter" Litts;
many nieces and nephews including nephew Jeremiah "Skinner" Mech, and nieces Irena Sauve, and Emily Price;
and a special friend "Silver Bullet". Willy easily befriended everyone he met.
Along with his father, "Hawk" Price, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Donna Kamin, Rhonda Mech, Rebecca Haynes and Susan Price;
and a niece, Shannon Mech.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 30, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until time of services at 6:00 pm.
