Born in Worcester, MA; she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Mildred (Pallanguri) Calimeris.
Elaine was the eldest of five children who were raised with traditional values with the focus on religion and family. She was a longtime active parishioner of the Church of the Annunciation and served on the Parish Council. Before moving to Rhode Island, Elaine lived in West Haven, CT and was also very active in the community. She was an elected official and had served on the Board of Education.
There were many accomplishments in her life that she was proud of, but nothing gave her more joy than watching her family grow and taking on the role of "YiaYia". She absolutely loved her grandsons. She was their biggest supporter, fan, best friend, and confidant. She had a warm way about her that embraced everyone with open arms and made you feel like one of her own. She was everyone's YiaYia!
Her love will live on in her children: Dawn Crabtree of Westerly, RI and Lisa Badway and her husband Kevin of North Providence, RI; her grandsons Nicholas and Matthew Badway of North Providence, RI; four siblings: Christine O'Connor and her husband Herbert of Richmond, Virginia, Olga Trepsass and her husband William of Leominster, MA, George Calimeris and his wife Linda of Shrewsbury, MA and Paul Calimeris and his wife Donna of Worcester, MA; and her loving aunts, nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins as well as her many friends. She was predeceased by her son, Evan R. Crabtree, in November of 2021.
