Roger A. "Herman" Sheehy, age 61, of Reedsville, died unexpectedly, early on Thursday morning, Jan. 10, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Herman was born on April 14, 1946, in Maple Grove, a son of the late Gordon and Irene Dvorak Sheehy. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic Grade School in Maple Grove and Reedsville High School, graduating with the class of 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany from Dec. 12, 1966, to Nov. 23, 1968. On July 16, 1976, he married Mary O'Leary at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Herman was a mechanic his entire life, and worked for various companies, including Marty's Sales of Reedsville, Sheahan Industries of Maple Grove and most recently was self-employed. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors, repairing tractors and shooting pool in various pool leagues. Herman was a member of Holy Family Catholic Parish of Brillion, and the Reedsville AMVETS.
Survivors include his wife: Mary Sheehy; two sons: Gordy Sheehy of Kellnersville, and Tony Sheehy, at home; one daughter and son-in-law: Brenda and Dan Peterson of Hartford, Wis.; his mother-in-law: Gertie O'Leary of Reedsville; and his brothers and sisters: Bill (Janet) Sheehy, Reedsville; Jean (Dan) Reetz, Wayside; Bonnie (Russ) Pahnke, Cato; Donald "Shep" Sheehy, Maple Grove; Darlene Sheehy and friend, Jim Konecny, Manitowoc; Linda (Ken) Kasper, Two Rivers; Annette Sheehy, Reedsville; Gary Sheehy, Maple Grove; and Kim (Mark) Vine, Bellevue. He is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, which include: Mike (Debbie) O'Leary, Bill (Kathie) O'Leary, Steve (Jean) O'Leary, all of Reedsville; Kathy (Wayne) Nohr, Wayside; Dan (Theresa) O'Leary, Wausau; and Tim O'Leary, Reedsville. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Gordon and Irene Sheehy; father-in-law: Donald O'Leary; and a niece: Tara Reetz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at Holy Family Parish, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Matt Simonar, with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Maple Grove. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of the AMVETS Post of Reedsville.
Friends may call at the St. Pat's Historical Building, Maple Grove, on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, from 4 until 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday morning, Jan. 14, 2008, at Holy Family Parish, Brillion, after 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:30 a.m.
