Born December 30, 1932, in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late Milton W. and Mary C. (Cable) Fitzsimmons.
On June 14, 1952, she married Bernard "Lee" Smith at the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church. This June they would have celebrated 70 years together. He survives.
Jane graduated from the Brookville High School. She was employed by the United States Post Office as a rural carrier and clerk. Jane was a member of the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women's Association, served on the mission committee, sang in the choir, and participated in the Adult Fellowship Group. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and spending time with family.
In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by three children, Susan Carlson, Falls Creek, Roseanne (Greg) Volpe, Falls Creek, and Lori (Doug) Shofestall, Union City, PA; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Gallagher, Falls Creek; eleven grandchildren, Matt Carlson, Lea Uhl, Becky Hickman, Jake Carlson, Willis Bish, Isaiah and Bernie Smith, Steven Bish, Vach Volpe, Zach Shofestall, and Samantha Shofestall; thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael Lee Smith, a grandson, Ben Smith, and a brother, Paul Fitzsimmons.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 1-3 p.m. from the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3 p.m. with Pastors Dave and Emily Koehler officiating. Interment will be in Beechwoods Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
