OBITUARY Iron River Reporter March 8 1972 “Obituaries: Irene Ivens Dies At 71”
Irene B. Ivens, 71, St. Paul, Minnesota and former resident of Stambaugh, died at St. Joseph Hospital, St. Paul, March 1. Services were held in St. Paul at the Willwerscheid & Peters Funeral Home Saturday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
Miss Ivens was born at Quinnesec, Michigan, February 11, 1901. She had been a resident of St. Paul for the past 47 years and was with the St. Paul School System for 44 years. She was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and was a teacher from 1925 until 1946 when she was hired as principal in the St. Paul school system and served as such until her recent retirement.
She is survived by one brother Joseph Ivens of Escanaba.
The remains were brought back to Stambaugh to await spring burial in the family plot in Stambaugh Cemetery.
The Brooks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

1910 US CENSUS for Stambaugh MI shows Camile F. Ivans [Ivens] head age 34 married born abt 1876 England immigrated 1892. Bertha wife age 27 married born abt 1883 Michigan. Irene daughter age 9 born abt 1901 Michigan. Joseph son age 7 born abt 1903 Michigan. Howard son age 4 born abt 1906 Michigan. Unnamed son age 0 born abt 1910 Michigan.
