Nina Sallee, age 90, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, in the Chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with Rev. Jessie Edwards, pastor of First Baptist Church in Newcastle, Texas officiating, assisted by Rev. Jody Forbus, pastor of Carbon Community Baptist Church in Carbon, Texas. Interment will follow at Jean Cemetery in Jean, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
Nina was born on November 20, 1931, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to the late Sam Harlow and Spicy (Slone) Harlow. She married Winford Sallee on May 21, 1949 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was a long-time resident of Young County and was a Baptist. She loved to play bingo and spinner and loved to watch the Texas Rangers. Nina had a hard life, but her faith was strong and she always persevered. She was a great mother with a big heart. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons: Bill Sallee, Bruce Sallee and Joe Sallee; two grandchildren: Wendell Sallee and Jeremy Sallee; and a great-grandchild, Jadyn Rayne Widner.
Nina is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Tony and Letha Sallee of Newcastle, Texas, Butch and Debbie Sallee of Lafayette, Tennessee and Terry and Vicki Sallee of Carbon, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law: Connie and Johnny Dougherty of Jean, Texas and Kim and Bo Bond of Olney, Texas; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Ansel and Lola Harlow of Manchester, Ohio and Joe Harlow of Cincinnati, Ohio; twenty-eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
