Don A. Morris, Jr., age 80, of Lapeer, died Sunday, January 30, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born March 28, 1941 in Detroit, his parents were the Rev. Don and Edna (Valade) Morris. Don attended Cass Tech High School in Detroit and graduated from Owosso High School in 1959. He attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, and went on to graduate from Central Michigan University with a B.A. in Music Education and a Master's Degree in Education Administration. While at Central Michigan he met the love of his life, Kathleen "Kay" Peppel, they married on August 31, 1963, at the Standish United Methodist Church.

Mr. Morris was a choral music teacher: starting in Standish Schools, moving on to Breckenridge, Otsego Schools and eventually retiring from Lapeer Community Schools… where he taught for over 25 years. Don directed many plays and musicals while teaching at Lapeer East High School. He also sang in quartets and choirs all throughout his lifetime; in high school, college and churches. Mr. Morris also taught at Maple Grove Elementary School in Lapeer and was an elementary school administrator in Kingsley, Michigan. Don's former students held a warm place in his heart. He touched many lives and made many dear friends during his lifetime.

After retirement, Don was an active volunteer for American Red Cross Blood Drives and Lapeer Regional Hospital, where he served many years as the Coordinator of Volunteers. Mr. Morris was a longtime, devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer. At Trinity United Methodist Church he served as: the Choir Director, a member of the choir, Finance Chairman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and was always willing to help where ever he could around the church. Mr. and Mrs. Morris enjoyed traveling with friends and his special hobby was collecting stamps. Don loved being a teacher, musician and volunteer! He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: William Morris; and father-in-law & mother-in-law, Herbert and Ellen Peppel
