Karla Elizabeth Young, entered into eternal rest unexpect-edly on November 2, 2010 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. Karla was born in Grabenst�tt, Germany and most recently resided in Woodstock, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Elizabeth Wilke. She was the loving mother of Daniel (Debbie) Young of San Francisco, Calif.; John (Angela) Young of Stratford; Patty Young-Milardo of Hamden, and Nancy Young of Woodstock, Ga.; six grandchildren, Amanda and Mitchell Milardo and Cody, Brittany, Hailey and Ashley Young. She also leaves behind her loving and caring sister, Norma Lange and her husband, Daniel of Franklin, N.C. She was a lover of all living things and truly passionate about the care of animals. Karla found enjoyment in spending time with her family and playing with her animals. She was an avid gardener and connoisseur of wine. She traveled extensively throughout her life to places like Japan, Germany, Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii. She worked at Sikorsky Aircraft in the 70s, was a program manager for the Blackhawk Helicopter project with NAVPRO, and retired from DCMA in Marietta, Ga. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 9 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to be aware of Karla's wish that donations be made to Friends of Animals, 777 Post Rd., Darien, CT 06820 or handofhope.net.
