Mrs. Martha Jane Galimore Smith, 80, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 9:15 AM.
Born to Pete Galimore and Annie Collins Galimore, on January 29, 1942 on a farm on Sand Valley Road in Attalla, Alabama. Martha was the youngest of nine children.
Survived by her husband, Reno Edwin Smith, whom she has been married to for 62 years, and two daughters, Deborah Lynn Smith Shannonhouse, (Stuart) of Powder Springs, GA, and Pamela Dean Smith Earley, (Chris), of Lawrenceville, Georgia. Five grandchildren, Andrew Edwin Norris of Powder Springs, Georgia; Jeremiah Ansley Norris (Qing Qing) of Dallas, GA; Martha Nichole Norris Dubois of Powder Springs, Georgia; Jessalyn Deborah (Rich) Earley Kelly of Jacksonville, FL; and Miranda Bethany (Evan) Earley Cubbedge of Savannah, GA. Three great grandchildren; Hailey Tyson Castille, Ethan Sergio Dubois of Powder Springs, Georgia; and Emerson James Kelly of Jacksonville, Florida. One great-great grandson, Kayden Ace Castille, of Powder Springs, GA. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family and special friend of our family, Dean Kaplan.
Martha was of Christian Faith, belonged to the Church of Christ. She was a wife and mother first of all, but she continued her education and got her masters in cosmetology, and was vice president of Georgia-Caroline Glass for 15 years.
She is preceded in death by her son, Pete Ellis Smith; parents, Pete and Annie (Collins) Galimore, two brothers, Ed and Max Galimore of Attalla Alabama, six sisters; Emma Lee Galimore West of Attalla, Alabama; Arvie Holten of Muncie, Indiana; Dovie Inez Galimore Correll, of Indiana and Powder Springs Ga; Gladys Lorene Galimore Conn, of Powder Springs, GA; Beverly Maxine Galimore Bachelor (Billy) of Buford, Georgia, and Frances Ellen Galimore Lucky, of Boaz Alabama.
Martha will be resting at the Bellamy Funeral Home in Hiram, GA. Family members may visit on Friday, April 29, 2022, between 5 & 6 p.m. Visitation will then open to for friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 PM.
The funeral will be held at Noble Hill Baptist Church (11 Noble Hill Road Attalla, AL 35954) on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM central standard time. At the end of the service, the family will offer the opportunity for anyone that would like to share some words with the family to do so.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Collins, Ethan DuBois, Alton Galimore, Brian Galimore, Dennis Page, and George Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ken Moseley, Anthony Galimore, Chris Earley, and Stu Shannonhouse.
Martha will then go to Noble Hill Baptist Church Cemetery to her final resting place. There will be a brief viewing service so everyone can say goodnight to her.
