Mr. Steen was born in Chesterfield County, a son of the late Flynn Steen and Minnie Gainey Steen. He was retired from Giant Cement Company where he was a shift repairman. He was a deacon and trustee of the St. George Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the Providence Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorcas Smoak Steen of Harleyville; five daughters, Mrs. Lyn (Deloris) Walters, Mrs. Kent (Elizabeth) Burns, and Mrs. Howard (Barbara) Pierpaoli of St. George, Mrs. Allen (Annette) Shuler and Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Jones of Elloree; three sisters, Mrs. Viola McGugan and Mrs. Irene Gainey of Orangeburg and Mrs. Bertha Douglas of Camden; four brothers, Buck E. Steen and Mack Steen of Orangeburg, Sam Steen of Hartsville and D.J. Steen of Moncks Corner; and 15 grandchildren.
