Cynthia Faye Austin, 72, of Independence, Kansas passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Potts Chapel. The family will hold a private service to celebrate Cynthia's life.

Cynthia was born on July 11, 1949, in Tennessee to Marion L. Waldrup Sr. and Emma F. (Dycus) Waldrup. She graduated from high school in Memphis, Tennessee in 1967. In 1984, Cynthia moved to Independence and made her permanent home. While in Independence, she met Bill Austin in 1992 and the two later married. Later in 1992, Bill and Cynthia purchased the bar, Ted's. Which they later renamed to Austin's. During their 15 years of ownership, Cynthia did everything in the bar from being the housekeeper, tending behind the bar and managing the establishment. In 2007, they sold Austin's and retired. During retirement, Cynthia loved to crochet, cross stitch, tend to her beautiful floral gardens, and watch the birds from the window.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion Sr. and Emma Waldrup and brother, Marion Waldrup Jr.

Her memory will carry on with her husband, Bill of Independence, daughter, Leigh Miller of Overland Park, KS, sons, Taylor Miller of Lee Summit, MO, Evan Miller of Belton, MO and Grant Miller of Aurora, MO, and 9 grandchildren.
