A good and noble man is gone.
Robert Lowell Hansen died February 11, 2022, in Chandler, AZ, of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

He was born February 1, 1947, to Virginia (Sharpe) and Howard Hansen in Valley City, ND, and grew up in several communities in North Dakota and Minnesota graduating from West Fargo in 1965, where he was an excellent student and accomplished athlete.

Rob attended NDSU on a 4 year ROTC scholarship, graduating as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. He served as a platoon leader in Viet Nam with the 101st Airborne division and had tours of duty in Germany and Fort Jackson. He earned many awards and decorations, culminating in the bronze star.

On June 10, 1976, he married Melodye Scoby of Fargo, and they had a son Nicholas, whom Rob referred to as " the proudest achievement of my life."

Rob worked in the beverage alcohol industry first as a bartender, then in management until he started in sales at Ed Phillips and Sons. He was promoted to Sales Manager, then Vice President until Phillips was acquired by Johnson Brothers, where he retired as President of Operations for The State of North Dakota. Rob loved his work, his coworkers, and customers and built many long-lasting friendships.

Rob married Pamela Wirth on August 22, 2003, in Colorado and remained a constant and loving example for her children, Chase and Carrie.

Rob lived his life to the fullest, and his family was always his highest priority. He gave love and received much love in return. Generous in spirit, he was always willing to help and strived to be the one who gave more.

He loved nearly all activities, golf, any kind of cards, fishing, and hunting with friends and family. Rob was an avid outdoorsman and loved to teach the art to those following him. A cigar and a glass of wine with friends was the perfect ending to any day.

Rob is survived and missed by his wife, Pam, his son Nick (Heidi) of Fargo, Carrie Wirth (Matt Brazil) of Fargo, and Chase Wirth of Chaska, MN. Treasured granddaughters Reese, Olivia, and Norrie of Fargo; grandsons, Brenden, Gabrial, and Aiden Brazil of Fargo; sisters, Peggy Odegaard (Ordell) of Nevis, MN, and Laurie Jo Hassel of St. Paul, MN, and brother, Lynn Hansen (Brenda) of Clitherall, MN, numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces, aunts Ruby Hansen of Valley City and Helen Hansen of Fargo and special friend and companion Birdie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 10-11am, followed by a memorial service at 11am on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Burial will be at Fargo National Cemetery in Harwood, ND.
