Mallory Davis
Mallory Davis, 16, died Friday (June 20, 2003) in rural Newton.
She was born Oct. 28, 1986, to Jim and Kyla (Barnes) Davis in Phoenix.
She was a student at Newton High School. She also was a ranch hand and horse riding instructor and raised rabbits. She volunteered at the Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton. She was a member of the Newton High School Drama Club, Lucky 13 4-H Club and Newton Saddle Club, and she was a board member of the Learning Horse Riding Center. She enjoyed her time riding in Western and English riding horse shows. She planned on becoming a veterinarian/zoologist and to someday ride and show horses in the Olympics
Survivors include: her father, Jim Davis and stepmother Carolyn of Phoenix; her mother, Kyla Ruhl and stepfather Clay of Newton; a brother, Richard "Rick" Davis of Kearney, Neb.; grandparents, Bill Woford of Marietta, Okla., and Jim and Pat Barnes of El Dorado; and step-grandparents, Jim and Lois Byne of Phoenix.
She was preceded in death by two grandparents, Fred and Margaret Davis.
Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Sifrit of Salem United Methodist Church officiating.
There will be a private family graveside service following the funeral.
Memorials have been established with the Mallory Davis Memorial for Caring Hands Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
