Randall A. "Randy" Higgins, 51, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Friday, May 12, 2006. The son of Robert M. and Gloria (English) Higgins. Randy graduated from Danville High School in 1972, and earned his B.S. from Purdue University, and his M.S. and two Ph.D.s from Iowa State University. On June 28, 1975, he was united in marriage to Mary L. Meck. This union was blessed with four children: Stephanie, Keith, Ben and Michelle. The family moved to Manhattan, Kansas, in 1982. Randy loved to fish, hunt, camp, garden, farm [barbecue, fry fish and bake brownies]. Randy was a professor of Entomology at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. [He guided 16 students to graduate degree completion.] He authored and delivered hundreds of publications and presentations, and received numerous awards for his professional service. He is also survived by his parents: Robert and Gloria Higgins of Danville, Indiana; two brothers: Kevin Higgins of Plainfield, Indiana and Gary Higgins of Huntington Beach, California; one sister: Debbie (Higgins) Dillon of Danville, Indiana; and many other relatives and friends. [Services were May 16 at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londee Funeral Home in Manhattan with the Revs Matthew Cobb and Don Zimmerman officiating.]
