Susan Temples Jones was born in Statesboro, GA on October 30, 1938 to Sara Cone Temples and John Hudson Temples.

Susan grew up in Decatur, GA and graduated from Decatur High School in 1956. She attended the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and graduated in March 1960 with a degree in Home Economics and Art. Susan married Ensign Everett Leslie Jones III, USN, in Decatur, GA on March 18, 1960. Jennifer Lynn Jones, their only child, was born in Karamursel, Turkey in October 1963.

The Jones' lived in Florida, Turkey, Virginia, Rhode Island, New York, Philippines, and California before settling down near family in North Carolina in 1999. They traveled many places including Greece, South Korea, Singapore, Israel, and have driven across the United States several times together. Susan and Ev celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in March.

Susan was an artist who loved everything colorful! She created beautiful artificial flower arrangements and stained-glass projects. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining in her home for many years. In her later years, she loved sitting in her living room and looking at the beautiful pink, white, lavender and red azalea blossoms in her front yard.

Susan asked Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of her heart and life when living in the Philippines in the late 1970's. John 3:16 was a very meaningful verse for her. She grew in her love of the Lord and was involved in Bible Study Fellowship leadership in many capacities for over 20 years. She and Ev faithfully served together at Richland Creek Community Church for many years and was always someone who would pray over and care for others.

Susan is predeceased by her brother John H Temples Jr and her parents, John and Sara Temples.

She is survived by her husband Everett; her daughter Jennifer and husband David; and two grandchildren Emily and Jonathan. We praise the Lord that Susan is with Jesus right now and that she is free of pain. She is rejoicing with the Lord, and we can't wait to be reunited together one day! But we will miss her until that day!

This family is being cared for by Bright Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive guests beginning at 1:30 p.m. and interment will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
