James "Jim" Logan age 94, of Miles City.
October 3, 1927 – April 24, 2022

Jim passed away peacefully at home on April 24th, 2022. Jim was 94 years old.

Jim Logan was born in Ottumwa, IA on October 3, 1927. He was the second child of five children born to George and Josephine Logan.

Jim quit high school at the age of 17 to join the U.S Army on Dec 5th, 1945. Jim was a Tank Sgt with the 2nd Infantry (Indian Head) Division. He served until August 26, 1947.

He then joined the family who had moved to Colstrip, MT where he went back to high school and received his high school diploma. Upon graduating, he managed the hardware store in Forsyth. He met and married his first wife in Forsyth, and they had 3 children: Diana, Mike, and John. The family moved to Glendive and that is where Jim started his career as a game warden.

Jim later transferred to Miles City. As a hobby he coached a softball league, and this is where he met Betty Jean "Jeannie". They married in 1966.

Jim and Jeannie had 4 children: Dennis, Troy, Darla, and Jami. He continued his career as a game warden for 31 years before he retired. Jim was well-known and respected by many across the state during his time as a warden.

He was a shooting instructor at the Pistol Range and won lots of shooting competitions in his lifetime. During this time, he was a leader in the Eagle Scouts, served in the National Guard and filled as deputy jailer. He and John Michels taught many high schoolers how to dance. Jim also loved to call local square dances as well.

After retiring, Jim remained busy.
He was Secretary and volunteered at the Eagles Club for many years. He did block management for the state and hauled and transported fish for the hatchery. He cut meat for Reynolds, processed taxes at H&R Block and worked security at the local baseball tournaments every summer. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid collector of guns and loved to sit and reload bullets.

Jim was proceeded in death by: George, father; Josephine, mother; Kathy, sister; George, brother; Jerry, brother; Mike, son; and Tucker, grandson.

Jim is survived by: Mary Jo, sister; Jeannie, wife of 55 years; Dennis, son (Peggy) Alicia (Chris), Tessa (Paris), Clay; Troy, son (Stacy) Nikki (Scott), Tory (Tim); Darla, daughter (Doug) Kyle (Amanda), Jaramie (Shelbey); Jami, daughter (Rob) Logan (Kailyn), Kassadee (Abel); Diana, daughter (Fredrick) Sean and Robin; Mike's sons Ben, Tim; John, son (Teri) Theo, Charity, and Tyfani; and 25 great grandkids plus another great-granddaughter due in August.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.

Military Graveside services will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veteran's Cemetery, Miles City, MT.

Reception at The Parlor following the Graveside services.
