Carol was a graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School and SUNY Fredonia, NY with a bachelor's degree in Education. She shared her passion for learning with thousands of children over her 29 year career, starting with Jamestown, Staatsburg, Hyde Park and Cassadaga School districts and spending most of her teaching career as an elementary school teacher at Falconer Central Schools.
Carol had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her loving and caring personality was contagious to everyone she met. She thrived off of spending time with her family including children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and wonderful friends. Carol and her husband Bill, enjoyed traveling, especially spending winters away in the Bahamas with friends. Some of her favorite hobbies included cooking, baking, reading, crocheting, knitting, playing mahjong with friends and participating in several women's golf leagues. Carol also received much joy and looked forward to her special phone call at 10 a.m. each day for 61 years with her best friend and sister at heart, MaryAnn Germaine.
Carol is survived by her husband, William L. "Bill" Davenport of 54 years, whom she married April 20, 1968 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fredonia. She is also survived by her four children, Kristen (David) Samuelson of Jamestown, NY, Kevin (Marta) Davenport of Lancaster, NY, Kenneth (Felicia) Davenport of Fairview, OH, Kathryn Davenport (Clarence Jessie) of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren: Hannah (Cody) Pacheco, Tyler Davenport (Maddy Duggins), Jacob Samuelson, Marcella Davenport, Diego Davenport, Ethan Davenport, Gabriela Davenport, Owen Davenport; a great grandson Vincent Pacheco and her sister Beverly (Daniel) Smith of Fredonia, NY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Florence Manuel of Fredonia, NY.
Carol was a devoted member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish where she served many years as a Eucharistic Minister and also participated in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and SUNY Fredonia Supervisor for Student Teachers Association.
Carol will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28th in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Falconer. Her burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
