Edith M. Holmes 98, formerly of Holmes Street in Richmondville, NY, died Friday, April 22nd at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home where she had resided for the past 3 years.
Edith was born July 10, 1923 in Cobleskill, NY, a daughter of Burl and Ella (Bever) Rickard and graduated from the former Cobleskill High School.
She later married Archie W. Holmes on June 7, 1944. He predeceased her on March 4, 2004.
She was a devoted member of the Richmondville United Methodist Church and also enjoyed playing Bingo and watching game-shows. She also enjoyed audio books, westerns and mysteries.
Survivors include her children; Christy (John) Markley of Cobleskill, A. W. "Woody" Holmes, Jr. of Summit, and Mark W. (Helen) Holmes of San Pedro, CA, 6 grandchildren; Andrea, Angela, Kris Ann, Kerry, Emily and Adam, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter Donna Paquet.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
