Henry "Hank" Oboryshko, age 78, of Heritage Park died Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Regal Heights nursing home after a long illness.
Hank was born in 1929 in Wilmington, DE. Hank lived most of his life in Delaware. He had a long and varied career. He served honorably in the US Army, and then graduated from the University of Delaware as an Electrical Engineer. After receiving his degree, Hank started a successful business for many years designing and building components for defense radar. In the second half of his working life he was a teacher, teaching shop and other subjects to Special Education students at the Hodgson Vocational Technical High School. Hank was an activist for the mentally retarded and was an early president of the ARC of Delaware. In later years Hank was active in the Pike Creek Lion's Club.
He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen in 1985; and is survived by his sister, Joanne Bartkowski of Milltown; his children, Kathleen Batyr of Connecticut, Brian Oboryshko of Bear, and Michael Oboryshko of Hockessin; and by 2 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 12 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOMES on Limestone Road on Monday, January 11, 2008 where visitation will begin after 11 am. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hank's name may be made to "The Arc of Delaware", 1016 Centre Road, Wilmington, DE 19805.
