Mary was the firstborn of the children of Jonathan Pickering and Cyrene Miller. Her siblings (in chronological order) were Elizabeth, Lydia, Saluda, Mariah, Nathan, Lucinda, Matilda, Sarah, and Hannah. Johathan Pickering was the son of Abraham Pickering, founder of Pickerington, Ohio.
Mary Pickering married Jacob Bish 18 April 1850 in Fairfield County Ohio. They had three children: Matilda Elizabeth, Jonathan David, and Oliver.
After Mary's early death, her sister Saluda married her husband Jacob. Saluda and Jacob had five children: William, Rhoda, George Washington, Betty Mary, and Frederick Pickerington Bish.
