From the Morganton Star, 1887:
Death of Mrs. Gilmer Brenizer
"Surely our community has not been called upon to mourn over a more sad death than that of Mrs. Gilmer Brenizer, which occurred last TUesday, the 7th, at 1 o'clock A.M. Only twelve months ago she stood at the hymenial alter (sic) a loving bride, with bright prospects for a long and happy life. But how soon are our earthly prospects blighted. Soon after marriage she was called upon to follow all that was earthly of a loving mother to the grave. The next vacant seat in the family was Mrs. Brenizer's, who leaves a loving, heart-broken husband,a sweet little babe, a kind, affectionate father, brothers and a sister to mourn their loss. On Tuesday evening as the sun set in the West she was laid to rest until the Saviour comes to gather his saints home to Heaven. The family and relatives have the deepest sympathy of the whole community."
