She graduated from Suffolk High School in 1965, home of the Red Raiders. Betty retired from Kilby Shores Elementary School in 2008 after 27 faithful years as a Teacher's Assistant. During her retirement years, she volunteered at Sentara Obici Hospital and with the Suffolk Humane Society.
Left to cherish her memory are her two loving daughters, Pamela René Holland of Suffolk and Allison Marie VanPeeren (Todd) of Chesapeake; brother, Ralph Edgar White, Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; two nieces, Melanie White Sias of NC and Missy White of SC and two grandchildren, Austin Lee Holland of Newport News and Kristina Li VanPeeren of Chesapeake and many others who affectionately knew her as "Betty Bob." The family thanks Heartland Hospice, Care Advantage, and so many loyal friends.
A funeral service will take place at Suffolk Presbyterian Church, 410 N. Broad Street, Suffolk on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 2 PM, immediately followed by a graveside service at Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery. A visitation will be held at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St. Suffolk on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6 PM to 7:30 PM.
