Born Aug. 22, 1921, in Flat Rock, he was the son of John and Emma (Love) Kelly.
He retired in 1983 from Marathon Oil after 34 years of employment. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European theatre. He was a member of the American Legion Post 69, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4549, Moose Lodge 1369 and the First Christian Church at Robinson.
He married Betty Wood on Dec. 24, 1941. She died on Oct. 2, 1995. Two brothers, a sister, two half brothers and a half-sister are also deceased.
Survivors include a son, Bob Kelly of Robinson; a daughter, Janice Cox of Martinsville; a sister, Velma Shipman of Robinson; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
