R. Harlon Sampley, 77, of Sanger, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2008 in Denton, Texas. He was born May 2, 1930 in Jack County, Texas to Edgar and Lillie (Leatherwood) Sampley. On June 6, 1981, he married Jodean (Lynch) Sampley in Marietta, Oklahoma. Harlon worked as a barber at Campus Barber Shop until he retired in November of 2004. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a member of Plainview Baptist Church in Krum.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 4 miles west of Sanger, with Carl Lane, Rev. Dewey Lang, Gary Sweatman officiating. Burial will be at Bolivar Cemetery
He is survived by his wife, Jodean Sampley of Sanger; daughter, Penny Nelson and husband, Randy of Sanger; son, Cody Sampley of Sanger; grandchildren, Sterling Durrett and wife, Juli of San Antonio, Brittney Nelson and Dallas Nelson both of Sanger, and Braden Mullen of Denton; special friends, Brett & Keston Mullen of Denton; and a host of many others.
