Melinda Ann "Mindy" Hicks, 52, of Wawaka, Indiana, died from complications of LUPUS on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at University Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born February 16, 1970, in Kendallville to Eugene and Diana (Ross) Sorg.

On August 3, 1996, at Victory Baptist Church in Rome City she married C. Sherman Hicks.

She had worked at KFC, Ames, and Wal-Mart in Kendallville. Most recently, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hicks was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Ligonier.

Surviving are her husband, Sherman Hicks of Wawaka; a son, Larry Hicks of Angola; a sister, Crystal (Tom) Collins of Kendallville; an uncle, Jim (Lois) Jennings of Newton, New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Andrew Skylar Hicks in 2001 and Wesley Sherman Hicks on March 16, 2016.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 24, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Melinda's funeral service will be Monday, April 25, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Harold Heaton and Pastor Josh Pfeiffer officiating.

Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Preferred memorials may be directed to the funeral home for funeral expenses.
