Early in the 1830's he settled in MA. He was a carpenter and builder and conducted a business in Charlestown for several years in partnership with a Mr. Smith. He moved to Medford between 1843 and 1846, where he built a house for his family, set out an orchard of fine fruit trees on his acre of ground. He built three quite pretentious houses for Medford citizens, which have remained first class residences. He only lived a few years in his new home. His widow lived in the home until her death. His unmarried sister Judith Burbank lived with his family at the time fofthe 1850 census.
William married Eliza Turner (1818-1890) of Cambridge, MA and the coule had seven children, four sons and three daughters.
