Marion A. (Herbst) Warner, 98, died September 27, 2021 at Summa Hospital, Akron, of Covid 19. She was born in Akron January 3, 1923, daughter of Phillip Herbst and Anna (Delus) Herbst. After graduating Garfield High School, she was employed by Goodyear Aircraft during WWII. She traveled to Eagle Pass, Texas to marry her high school sweetheart, Lt. James A. Warner, then a pilot instructor, on June 24, 1944. After the War, she helped her husband build a house south of Akron. When they found the lot of their dreams on the Portage Lakes, she helped him build their second and final home in 1956. Marion was a founder of St. Francis de Sales Parish in 1948 and a devoted parishioner till her death. She held offices in various associated parish clubs and organizations over the years and served as the church's historian. She was Secretary of the Portage Lakes Historical Society, a life time member of the Akron Mineral Society, a member of the Portage Lakes Grand- mothers Club, and president of the Green AARP and traveled on many of their trips. For many years she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary at several Akron businesses. Whether she was organizing classmates, neighbors, or another family party, Marion naturally gravitated to leadership because she loved the organizations, their causes, and the people in them. She is survived by four sons, one daughter, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and, 2 great-great- grandchildren. Marion was preceded in death by her husband James; brother, Philip Herbst; sister, Frances Mills and her parents. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, 44319, at 11:00AM on October 16. She will be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, Ohio. Donations in her memory can be made to the St Francis de Sales Catholic Education Endowment Fund.
