He was born and raised in Fairfield, California, before moving to Keansburg in 1958. Mitch served in the US Air Force as an Airman 2nd class from 1955-1959. After being discharged from the service, he started his career as a welder and maintenance worker for several companies.
Mitch was a member of the Goodfellows, Keansburg. He was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49er's fan. He enjoyed puzzles, spades, cribbage, deer hunting in 1972, umpiring and coaching the kids. He loved spending time with family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed helping the ladies out from Mc Graf Towers by taking them to the store or wherever they needed to go.
Mitch is survived by his two sons and daughters in-law; Donald L. and Janet Mitchell Jr. of Brick and James and Tracey Mitchell of Union Beach. His three daughters and sons in-law; Patricia and Paul Damen of Port Monmouth, Barbara and Greg Faller of Keansburg and Lisa and Chris Lewandowski of Union Beach. His brother Richard Mitchell of California, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday from 3-7 pm at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to local sports organizations for kids.
