Robert G. "Bob" Thacker died on September 17, 2021, at the age of 72 at the Northeast Georgia Hospital in Braselton, Georgia. He was born on September 13, 1949, in the town of Oneida, Kentucky to the late Edna Faye Ferguson of Beattyville, Kentucky. He was inducted into the United States Army on February 22, 1972 in Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rate of Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on Ferbuary 22, 1974 at Fort Knox, Kentucky receiving the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with six battle stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
A LOVING FAMILY
Bob will be missed by his wife, Glenna J. Thacker of Braselton Georgia, his son Brent Thacker and Rhonda and their two children Jackson and Lincoln of Madison, Indiana, uncles Denny Thacker and Sandy of Madison, Indiana and Mitchell Thacker and Rhonda of Hanover, several cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Faye Ferguson, his Grandparents William and Vada Thacker (who raised him), one bother Kenneth Sandusky, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
SERVICES
Services will be conducted Friday, April 29, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery,1415 North Gate Road in Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
Military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
