Mary Jane Norris, 86, of Tel Hai Nursing Home, Honey Brook, Pa., formerly of Sarver, Buffalo Township, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, Reading, Pa. She was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Tarentum, a daughter of the late William Guy and Elizabeth (Hauch) Renshaw. She graduated Har-Brack High School in 1937. She was an executive secretary for ALCOA New Kensington for 10 years before her marriage to Glenn Owen Norris, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1998. She moved to West Chester, Pa., nine years ago to be near her daughter, Karen. She was a member of Paoli Presbyterian Church and a former longtime member of Freeport Presbyterian Church. She was a longtime member of Allegheny Valley Community Service Club, Tarentum, where she served as president for a year. She was also a member of the AARP, where she was secretary of the Allegheny Valley Chapter and the Women's Missionary Society of Freeport Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing and was a self-taught seamstress, making many of her daughter's suits and dresses for work. She also enjoyed baking pies and cakes. She was very artistic and did sketches for Community Club and AARP program booklets. Jane and Glenn enjoyed extensive travel throughout Europe, the Caribbean, United States, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii. They also enjoyed ballroom dancing and trips to New York City for Broadway shows. Throughout the 1970s until Glenn's death in 1998, they often traveled to the Philadelphia Main Line area to visit Karen. Jane loved her dog, Lili, who made frequent visits to Tel Hai. She is survived by her daughter, Karen L. Norris, of Coatesville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Renshaw, in 1968. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1007 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. The Rev. William C. Mumaw II will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Harrison Township.
