James "Jim" Arthur Scott, Jr., was born in rural Sac County, Iowa, Wheeler Township on August 13, 1929. He was the son of James Arthur, Sr. and Violet (Cowlham) Scott. Jim attended Wheeler #7 Country School through the 8th grade and graduated from Odebolt High School with the class of 1946.

On October 15, 1950, Jim was united in marriage to JoAnn Bye in the Odebolt Presbyterian Church. To this union three children were born: Marcy Jo, Jeffrey James and John Arthur. From 1953 thru 1954, Jim served his country overseas in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was honorably discharged after his service to his country.

Jim was a life-long farmer and loved working the land and watching his crops grow. He loved driving green equipment and planting Dekalb seed.

A faithful member of the United Methodist Church of Odebolt, Jim was civic minded and served on many boards and committees along with being on the city council. He was a member of the Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion of Odebolt for over 60 years where he held the title of commander several times. The Legion presented Jim a quilt of valor which was one of his prized possessions. One of his greatest honors was to be selected to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He always said it was one of the BEST days of his life. They were all treated like kings!

Jim enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing, and playing the penny slots. He also treasured attending his grandchildren's events whether it was a school program, sporting or racing event.
