He joined Beulah Baptist Church at an early age and in later years served as a deacon and song leader. He was a charter founder of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Wrightsville and served as a deacon. He also served as a deacon at Bethsaida Baptist in Adrian. He was a member of Brown Memorial Baptist for the past several years.
He was a long time trustee of the Beulah Cemetery Fund. He loved to Dove and quail hunt. He was a farmer all his life raising cattle and hogs. He worked at Claxton's Grocery and John Ed Vanlandingham Grocery before going to J. P. Stevens, later Fortsman in Dublin where he retired.
Wade was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Johnson County Historical Society, Johnson County Young Farmers, Woodmen of the World and Johnson County Farm Bureau.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Will Tom & Lokella Brantley Smith; 1st wife, Julia Frances Register; 2nd wife, Johnnie Faye Morris; brothers, G. T., James, William. Sisters, Mary Lee Herringdine, Iva Mae Stephens, Mildred Smith, Kathleen Anderson and Great Granddaughter, Hadley James Smith.
Services will be at 3 pm Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Brown Memorial in Wrightsville with burial in Beulah Cemetery. Roger Holley and Thurman Foskey will officiate. Visitation will be at 2 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers make donations in memory of Wade to Beulah Cemetery Memorial Fund, 395 Will Tom Circle, Wrightsville, Ga. 31096.
