Perlis D. Akers Age, 71, of Marion, North Carolina, formerly of Dana, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000, at McDowell Hospital in Marion, North Carolina, following an extended illness. Born on May 25, 1929, in Dana, he was the son of the late Emine Pearl Akers and Cynthia Jarrell Akers. He was a retired carpenter. Survivors include three sons, Clayton Akers of Dana, Timothy Akers of New York, Ricky Akers of New York; three daughters, Marsha Akers of Banner, Charlene Bricker of Almont, Michigan, Charmae Akers of New York; two brothers, Clevert Akers of Dana, Thurman Akers of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Lettie Mae Osborne of Banner; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 24, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the E.P. Akers Cemetery, at Dana, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
