Mary D. Staples Powell, 93, passed away March 6, 2022 at her home in Richfield. She was born April 20, 1928 in Inverury (Central Valley), Utah to Elva and Delilah Washburn Staples. She married Kay T. Powell, September 11, 1947 in Central Valley. Their marriage was solemnized on May 12, 1993 in the Manti Temple. Kay preceded her in death on January 6, 1998.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mary D. served in many callings. She also served as president and a member of the Senior Citizen Center. She was a devoted mother and wife—family, the gospel, and caring for and serving others were the most important things in her life. She worked the Richfield Reaper for more than 20 years. She loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping with family and friends.

Survived by her sons: Stan C Powell, Central Valley; Roger K. (Debra) Powell, Lake Point; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Carol Jensen, Richfield; Elnora (Kenneth) Mason, Elkridge; Louisa (Fred) Swain, Salem; Ronald Staples; sister-in-law, Melody Staples, Orem.

Also preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Vance (Rayola) Staples, Orene (Walt) Zobell, Sylvan (Florence) Staples, Leon Staples, Terrill (Bonnie) Staples, Gloria (Doraine) Roberts, Kay Staples; brother-in-law, June Jensen; sister-in-law, LaRene Staples.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
