Mrs. Jessie Mae Gibbs Jones, formerly known as "Jumbo", daughter of the late James and Evelina Gibbs, was born March 16, 1937 in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. She departed this life on Saturday, January 22, 2022.

She attended school in Berkeley County and graduated from Berkeley Training High School in 1956. Jessie Mae, at an early age, worked at New York City Police Department (Auxiliary Service), Big Lots in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and provided care for families and children in Pinopolis, South Carolina.

She received the prestigious NAACP award for her service in the community. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Jessie Mae was an extraordinary woman with an extremely welcoming spirit! She had a love for cooking, gardening, shopping, cleaning, traveling, and spending quality time with her family. She was adored and loved by all who knew her.

Jessie Mae accepted Jesus Christ into her life at an early age and attended Wesley United Methodist Church. She served faithfully as an Usher, attended Sunday School, and worked wherever she was needed in the House of the Lord.

In 1955, Jessie Mae united in Holy Matrimony to the late Lee Arthur Jones, Sr. Jessie Mae was preceded in death by: her parents; her daughters, Margie Ann Wright and Delores Jones; granddaughter, Latoya Jones; two sisters, Dorothy Gibbs and Helen Peek.
Those left to cherish her fond memories are her six children: Bobbie Jean (Alphonso) Pride, Delmarie (Dexter) Stevens, Phyllis (Keith) Fashion, Lee Arthur (Willie Mae) Jones Jr. all of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Daisy (Larry) Moorer of Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Barbara Ann (Godfrey) Kyte of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Grandchildren: Tasha K. Horton, Kyisha Cook (Sean) and Sherrod Jones who lived with her many years showered her with unconditional love and dedication.

Her legacy lives on through her seventeen (17) grandchildren, twenty-three (23) great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She also leaves behind two sisters, Ruth (John) Stevens and Pauline (Clayton) McBride all of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Bertha Lee Nelson of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; a special niece/friend: Mary Smith; a special nephew, Brian Keith Gibbs; a special grandniece, Candra Joyner; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022, 12 Noon, at Moncks Corner United Methodist Church, 106 Church Street, Moncks Corner, SC, with viewing from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Old Nazareth Cemetery, Pinopolis, SC.
