James was a graduate of East Henderson High School, class of 1979. He worked for many years in the heating and cooling industry, retiring as a Maintenance Supervisor.
James loved spending time with his family, golfing, and gardening with his dad.
James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lora McCarson Kerr; daughter, Elizabeth Mendoza (Jorge) of Hendersonville, NC and son, Jonathan Douglas Kerr (Alejandra Cordero Kerr) of Hendersonville, NC; granddaughter, Camila Katana Kerr; sister, Sandra Moreno (Mark) and brothers, David Kerr (Jackie) and Bobby Kerr; and lots of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family is planning a private family gathering.
