John Joseph Simone, 83, passed away April 14, 2022. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. followed by the Visitation from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and the Funeral Mass at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 309 Benton Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64124. John will be cremated following the services according to his wishes.

John was born February 8, 1939, to his parents Joseph and Anna Simone. He attended St. John Grade School and DeLaSalle High School. On April 23, 1960, he married Sylvia Ann Distefano. They had a loving marriage for 57 years, until her passing in 2017. He was a loving father and grandfather who was very proud of his family. He was active at St. Anthony's Parish, working in the food pantry and planning the annual St. Joseph's Table with his wife. He was also proud to be a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a man of great faith and loved praying the rosary. John also enjoyed watching sports especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the University of Missouri. What he enjoyed most was watching his grandchildren compete in sports and simply being around his family.

John was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Simone, daughter Julie Hughes, his parents Joseph and Anna Simone, brothers and their wives Joe and Carol Simone and Tom and Betty Simone, brother Nick Simone, sister Florence Simone, brother-in-law John Distefano, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rose and Sal Cuccia. He is survived by his son John G. Simone (Rose), son-in-law Jeff Hughes, grandchildren Robert Lawrence, Katherine Lawrence (Dalton Major), Hannah Simone, Hope Simone, and Mia Simone, sisters-in-law Dorothy Simone and Florence Distefano, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Nick and Karen Distefano and Carl and Trish Distefano, and many other family members and dear friends.

Pallbearers: Robert Lawrence, Jeff Hughes, Nick Simone, Sam Distefano, and Donnie Cuccia.
